The Legend of Korra is heading to Webtoon with an almost untold story before The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender's official streaming release.

On April 26, Avatar: The Last Airbender fans will be able to catch up on one of the franchise's most underrated stories when The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars by writer and co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino and artist Irene Koh makes its way to the Webtoon platform. Like past Avatar: The Last Airbender comics that have been added to the platform, The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars will be adapted for Webtoon's vertical scrolling format.

Set immediately after the series' finale, The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars serves as the 53rd episode of the original series, albeit in a completely different medium. The official solicit synopsis for The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars from Dark Horse Comics reads, "Relishing their newfound feelings for each other, Korra and Asami leave the Spirit World... but find nothing in Republic City but political hijinks and human vs. spirit conflict!

The solicit text continues, "A pompous developer plans to turn the new spirit portal into an amusement park, potentially severing an already tumultuous connection with the spirits. What's more, the triads have realigned and are in a brutal all-out brawl at the city's borders—where hundreds of evacuees have relocated! In order to get through it all, Korra and Asami vow to look out for each other—but first, they've got to get better at being a team and a couple!"

The Legend of Korra Revisits The Avatar Universe

The sequel series to the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, which concluded in 2008, The Legend of Korra premiered in 2012 and picked up decades after its predecessor concluded. The series follows the titular Korra, Aang's successor as the Avatar, who sets out to make her own way in a world that is drastically different from what fans were used to seeing.

Taking place after a bending-fueled industrial revolution, The Legend of Korra offered audiences a more modern and complex overarching narrative than Avatar: The Last Airbender. Whereas the original series found the world swept up in the Fire Nation's war of expansion, The Legend of Korra finds benders and non-benders alike pitted against one another by malevolent forces dedicated to reset the world's status quo.

As exciting as the addition of The Legend of Korra to the Webtoon platform might be, it is hardly the biggest thing to come to the franchise this year. In fact, fans are only months away from the official release of the franchise's first animated feature film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. Of course, millions of fans have already seen the film after The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender was leaked online in recent weeks.

The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars arrives on Webtoon on April 26.
