The Ultimate Universe's biggest and most powerful superhero team simply cannot stop losing, no matter how hard they try.

In a preview of Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 (by Deniz Camp, Alex Paknadel, Patrick Boutin, Phil Noto, Francesco Manna, Lee Ferguson, Javier Pulido, Federico Blee, Guru-eFX, Erick Arciniega, Javier Pulido, and VC's Travis Lanham) from Marvel Comics, readers find the members of the Ultimate Universe's future Guardians of the Galaxy tragically failing to save their timeline. Fortunately, there are tens of thousands of Guardians left to lend a hand to that effort, even if no one has any idea where in space (or time) any given one of them happens to be.

The official solicit synopsis for Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 from Marvel Comics reads, "ALL PATHS LEAD TO ENDGAME! In preparation for the Maker's return in ULTIMATE ENDGAME, the Ultimate Guardians have been travelling all across time and space, recruiting members new and old... Travel across all the corners of the Ultimate Universe! Don't miss the dawn of many new characters, including Ultimate Daredevil!"

The Guardians of the Galaxy of the current Ultimate Universe made their debut in The Ultimates #8 by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri. While the core team consists of the likes of Captain Marvel, Cosmo Starstalker, the Ultimate Nullifier, and Star-Lord, none of these characters are anything like the versions fans know best.

Instead, these Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy hail from the far-flung future of their native reality. Descended from the heroes of the 21st century, these 61st century champions watched their own present come unraveled as a result of the Maker's meddling with the reality of Earth-6160. This drove the Guardians to take it upon themselves and prevent the Maker's endeavors from ever coming to fruition, albeit to absolutely zero success of their own.

Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 comes not all that far ahead of the conclusion of the entire Ultimate line. Back in October, during New York Comic Con, it was confirmed that the Ultimate line would be coming to a close in April 2026. The Ultimates writer and Ultimate Universe co-architect Deniz Camp said of the announcement, "It's hard to talk about it without getting emotional."

"It really is the culmination of everything Jonathan began. Everything from my book and everyone else's book are all converging. It's gonna be definitive, it's going to be big. It's going to be emotional, there's going to be death... It's just wild."

Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 goes on sale December 3 from Marvel Comics.
