The worst version of Lobo in DC Comics' history just learned a harsh lesson about how powerful he really isn't.

DC K.O.: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1 (by Joëlle Jones, Jason Howard, Cary Nord, Daniel Bayliss, Tamra Bonvillain, Danile Bayliss, and Clayton Cowles) pits two of the strongest warriors in the entire DC Universe against one another for a three-round brawl that is even more brutal than readers expected. This is especially true in round two, during which Lobo takes on his sleek New 52 form to take on not just Wonder Woman, but an entire army of Amazonian heroes. And, while he might still be the Main Man, that means literally nothing to his opponents.

The official solicit synopsis for DC K.O.: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1 from DC Comics reads, "DC K.O. ALL FIGHT MONTH: ROUND 3 OF 8! Witness the ultimate smackdown as two heavy hitters fight for the crown!"

While Lobo has been a mainstay of the DC Universe since his original comic book debut all the way back in 1983's Omega Men #3 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, not every version of the unstoppable Czarnian bounty hunter has made as much of a mark on pop culture. By far the most maligned version of the character arose during the New 52 era of DC Comics, only to disappear nearly as quickly as he emerged.

Introduced in 2011's Justice League #23.2: Lobo (by Marguerite Bennett and Ben Oliver), the slimmer, less gritty iteration of Lobo, also known as Lobo I, was once an honorable guard at the royal palace on Czarnia. When he discovered that the king was setting up the planet's downfall, Lobo killed him in an act of unwitting heroism before setting out across the stars as the next great interstellar bounty hunter.

Eventually, Lobo I learned of the existence of an "impostor" in the form of a far more recognizable Lobo, or Lobo II, who was every bit the Main Man that fans are used to seeing in the pages of DC Comics. Unfortunately for Lobo I, he at some point fell victim to Brainiac 2.0 and became trapped within one of the villain's many bottles.

Lobo fans are currently eagerly awaiting the debut of the live-action iteration of the character, as will be portrayed by Jason Momoa in the upcoming Supergirl feature film starring Milly Alcock. Fans got their first look at Momoa's Lobo during a very brief sequence in the first trailer for Supergirl, with the former Aquaman star stepping out of the shadows in a surprisingly comic-accurate costume.

DC K.O.: Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1 is on sale now from DC Comics.

The Justice League, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, pose together on the Justice League of America Vol. 1 comic cover.
