Toxic Masculinity Tuesday: Law Abiding Citizen (2009)

It’s gonna be Biblical.” – Clyde Shelton With the debacle the Lindsay Clancy fallout has become, I was reminded of an old movie from 2009, Law Abiding Citizen. I was reminded of this movie because, at the time, the main antagonist, Clyde Shelton, was meant to be seen as the bad guy as he attempted to bring the criminal justice system to its knees. However, in retrospect, and in light of current events, Clyde Shelton was just ahead of the game. LAW ABIDING CITIZEN - HD TRAILER Plot: Gerard Butler starred as Clyde Shelton, a brilliant inventor and ex-CIA engineer. Clyde lives with his family in Philadelphia and in the first minutes of the movie, we see his life turned upside down when two thugs named Rupert Ames and Clarence Darby invade his home. Tied up and helpless, Clyde is stabbed and forced to watch Darby rape and murder his wife, the light going out as he stares into her eyes. The nightmare continues when his young daughter wanders into the mayhem and Darby callously takes her out as well. Darby must have been suffering from testosterone ...
