Transformers #25 is set to serve as the beginning of a new story arc, which its oversized anniversary format will serve in only the best of ways. The official solicit synopsis for Transformers #25 from Skybound Entertainment reads, "The Energon Universe will never be the same as the Autobots and Decepticons kick off the most surprising new chapter in their war on Earth. Optimus Prime and the remaining Autobots must join forces with unlikely allies to protect their adopted planet. But Prime’s next challenge lies closer to home than he ever imagined. And what is the fate of the Decepticons?"

Transformers #24 marked the culmination of the biggest and most devastating battle that the Autobots or Decepticons have seen so far in the pages of Skybound Entertainment's ongoing series. The issue picked up in the middle of a large-scale battle between the two factions, with each sustaining some major losses along the way. While Megatron and Starscream were able to impale Optimus Prime during the battle, this was far from enough to bring an end to the leader of the Autobots, who ultimately emerged victorious once the dust had settled.

While the Transformers line of comics stands as the beating heart of Skybound Entertainment's Energon Universe, the Robots in Disguise aren't the only pop culture icons who inhabit that very same space. As of now, the wider Energon Universe consists of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and the publisher's own original Void Rivals lines of comics. It was the publication of Void Rivals #1 (by Robert Kirkman, Lorenzo De Felici, Mat Lopes, and Rus Wooton) back in 2023 that kicked off the Energon Universe, and which revealed the Transformers franchise's presence within it thanks to an end-of-issue reveal of the former Decepticon known as Jetfire. Since then, the Energon Universe has only gotten bigger, and its consistent growth rate doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.

Transformers #25 goes on sale October 8 from Skybound Entertainment.
