Remember back in the ’90s when Fabian Nicieza was basically running the X-line and he realized that he liked Psylocke too much to let her be evil so he gave her two bodies and said the one that had been acting like a dick was really someone called Kwannon? It was one of the most confusing storylines of the X-90s (and that’s saying something).
In this issue, Madelyne Pryor’s new all-hot-chick army (creatively called “Sisterhood”) attacks. It’s a good excuse for lots of pictures of hot chicks fighting.

And I mean that–it IS a good excuse for it.

They steal the body that has Kwannon in it and put Psylocke’s mind back in it, but she’s under Madelyne’s mind control.

Also, Wolverine gets Northstar to join the X-Men and gets skewered by Lady Deathstrike.
Madelyne’s “Sisterhood” are storming X-Mansion looking for a new host body for Maddy. They steal a lock of Jean Grey’s hair.

In the end, it’s not brute force that wins the day. Domino tricks Madelyne into believing she’s found the body of Jean Grey, but it’s been switched.

And the fake host body can’t hold Pryor, so she dies (again).

Once she’s gone, the ladies under her thrall are released.

Domino and Psylocke join the team. Across the issues, we see the “team” broken down into smaller alliances who all act without the others’ knowledge. Hank McCoy throws some speechifying at Scott and Emma about it in the end.

I like how Beast, over the past many years, has evolved into the soul of the team–and how he really stepped into that role after Kitty Pryde left.
Very good writing, solid story, and best of all: A Psylocke story that incorporates her history clearly and concisely. These issues are proof that the vast X-Men universe doesn’t have to be confusing.
Well done!
