Daredevil: Born Again co-creator and showrunner Dario Scardapane explains why the series doesn't see much of the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also explained why Spider-Man or other Avengers won't pop in for a crossover.
Per Deadline, Scardapane recently discussed the reasons that Daredevil: Born Again shares little in terms of space when it comes to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even in spite of its titular antihero's numerous appearances elsewhere. "The joke we make is, 'Oh, those guys are uptown – we're downtown!'"
"We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell's Kitchen, in this world of New York," Scardapane explained before going on to note that, while the wider MCU is indeed a massive universe with room for all manner of epic stories to be told, the stories that Daredevil: Born Again hones in on "are really granular."
Daredevil Interacted With Other MCU Characters
"We know there's that huge world out there of the MCU. This corner of it has crossovers. We've seen Daredevil in other shows, there are other characters that are going to be popping up in movies and stuff, and that all goes into the larger MCU of it all," Scardapane also stated.
The filmmaker did note that, when it came to whether he would personally be willing to tackle a grander crossover series on the small screen, "I'd be into it, because I dig the comics!" He did admit that's a "fun and challenging" thing.
Created by Scardapane alongside Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Daredevil: Born Again premiered in 2025 to the delight of fans everywhere. The series stars 43-year-old London native Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, better known as Daredevil, picking up several years after the Daredevil series from Marvel Television that ran as part of Netflix's Defenders line of shows.
Alongside Matt Murdock, Daredevil: Born Again marked the return of numerous fan-favorites, including Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin. Daredevil: Born Again also marked the debut of Hunter Doohan as the dreaded serial killer known as Muse.

Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum even clarified that Daredevil: Born Again would be looking at an annual release schedule, with new seasons arriving "Every March, for as long as people enjoy the show."
As far as what fans can look forward to in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, at least one other fan-favorite Netflix Defender will be making a comeback, specifically Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones. Following the news of Ritter's return to the role, Daredevil: Born Again producer Sana Amanat promised fans that the character's role in Season 2 comes as a result of some truly dark developments.
"[Jones] isn't necessarily a team-up kind of person." Amanat said at the time, "So the reason she's back is because it feels like it's very personal. She brings edginess and lightness — Daredevil can be very dark and dramatic, and she cuts through the BS in a really fun way."
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently slated to premiere on Disney+ on Mar. 24.
