Jason Statham returns to the big screen in the action thriller “A Working Man,” set to hit theaters on March 28, 2025. The film, directed by David Ayer, features Statham as a former black ops soldier who must use his skills to rescue his boss’s kidnapped daughter.
The movie, based on a script by Sylvester Stallone with contributions from Chuck Dixon and David Ayer, reunites Statham with Ayer following their collaboration on “The Beekeeper” last year. The cast includes David Harbour, Michael Peña, Jason Flemyng, Arianna Rivas, Noemi Gonzalez, and Emmett J. Scanlan.
The synopsis reads: “Levon Cade left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.”

Early reactions to “A Working Man” have been mostly positive. Critics praise Statham’s performance and Ayer’s direction, with some comparing the film to classic action movies. One reviewer called it “pure action excellence,” while another described it as “gripping” and “crowd-pleasing.”
A Working Man flat out kicks ass. Jason Statham is in his element with David Ayer directing a hard-nosed action film. It’s satisfying to see Statham go after human traffickers with reckless abandon. #AWorkingManMovie pic.twitter.com/7myJJyqxtj

If you’re hoping that #AWorkingMan is THE BEEKEEPER, TOO, you’d better wait for that film’s sequel. But if you want some REACHER-style brawlin’ with a dash of RAMBO spice and HARD TARGET seasoning, Statham & Ayer deliver. This duo’s electric; hope they make something every year! pic.twitter.com/0z3VSpL0jQ

A Working Man is pure action excellence. David Ayer and Jason Statham combine for another satisfying outing at the movies. It might be more Death Wish than Commando, but Statham is in his Charles Bronson era, and I love it. #AWorkingMan pic.twitter.com/GnOKSPitUz

You know what you’re getting with a Jason Statham movie, and #AWorkingMan delivers the goods. Not as much over-the-top fun as The Beekeeper, but this throwback to the ‘80s Action Star Vehicle works a treat, even if it does get bogged down by an unnecessarily complex plot. pic.twitter.com/5gfIcEgR2b

“A Working Man” is part of Statham’s ongoing streak of action films. He is also set to appear in “The Beekeeper 2,” “Mutiny,” and an unnamed project with director Ric Roman Waugh in the coming years.
