On August 28, 2025, WEBTOON rolled out an app update that improves search functionality and optimizes recommendations for users.
The August 28 update included:
Expanded Keyword Search:
Building on earlier improvements to search, users can now look up a wider range of keywords, including genres, themes, tropes, and character descriptions. The updated function also recognizes misspellings and slight errors in searches. Looking for enemies-to-lovers? An LGBTQ+ romance? The new update makes it easier to discover stories that match users’ moods, interests, or favorite tropes.
Optimized Recommendations with Opt-Out Feature:
Users now have the option to remove a series from their recommendations. Once a title is opted out, it will no longer appear in the “Top Picks for You” section on the Home tab, giving users more control to fine-tune their reading suggestions.
These enhancements improve discovery across WEBTOON’s library, helping fans uncover hidden gems, connect with new stories, and experience the platform’s wide range of content.
This update followed several improvements released earlier this year across both desktop and iOS/Android versions, including UI updates for smoother browsing.
What do you think about the new search tools and recommendation opt-out feature? Will you be using them? Share your thoughts in the comments!
