“His Name Is Taboo”
Topaz had been rescued from the desolate streets of Punjab as a young girl. The man known simply as Taboo, stopped an angry mob from executing her for witchcraft. Fortunately, those superstitious fools knew nothing of her true powers. In time, she would be tutored fully in the mystic arts. But, for what purpose?
Twelve years later, high atop a California mountain range, Topaz stood facing the son of Baron Gregory Russoff. In a bizarre scene of magic and beastly rage, her once-loving father figure, Taboo, demanded the woman’s loyalty with one single command. Kill the last known victim of the werewolf curse! Jack Russell was a prisoner once again, but what his captors demanded no longer existed. The book of sins. Also known as the Darkhold.
Who is the self-proclaimed last sorcerer of Punjab? Will Jack Russell defy his mother’s dying wish? Can Phillip Russell defend himself against a supernatural beast powered by the very Darkhold itself? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Ploog has returned for this issue of Werewolf By Night, and it’s chock-full of amazing Ploog’ness! As for the storyline itself, Jack is still battling his way through the lower tier of supernatural cronies. The Avengers End Game, this is not, but for a newer series, Taboo is just the right amount of evil to give a werewolf a run for its money.
Did I mention that this is the first appearance of Topaz? Boom, done! I give issue #13 a solid three out of five stars. You may now proceed to the Ploog clinic of monster art.
