I wonder what White Chain will think of Metatron when she learns the truth. What will she do when faced with the reality of the true cycle, one that is not a metaphor for progress, but a tangible and inescapable stasis? Will she be so accepting?

The wheel cannot be stopped. Trying to stop it ensures that it crushes you.
Your only two options? Allow the wheel to turn or take control of the wheel.
Not taking control, or not letting the wheel turn on it’s own means that someone else WILL take control of the wheel. Someone that does not have your interests at heart.

I think that this story has so far given us multiple examples of how attempting to control the wheel is a fruitless endeavor.
you can try to stall the effects it has on you,
separate yourself from it,
control everything in it’s path,
witness all of it’s movements in advance,
spread yourself across it,
or even try to force it to retake a different path,but the wheel still turns.

See the TURTLE of enormous girth!
On his shell he holds the earth.
His thought is slow but always kind;
He holds us all within his mind.
On his back all vows are made;
He sees the truth but may not said.
He loves the land and loves the sea,
And even loves a child like me
