Daredevil: Born Again producer Sana Amanat breaks down the impetus behind Krysten Ritter's upcoming return as Jessica Jones.

Speaking to Empire, Amanat discussed the impending return of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, noting that "[Jones] isn't necessarily a team-up kind of person." Amanat went on to explain, "So the reason she's back is because it feels like it's very personal. She brings edginess and lightness — Daredevil can be very dark and dramatic, and she cuts through the BS in a really fun way."

The next chapter of Daredevil's story is being told by one of the most hotly anticipated creative teams Marvel comics has seen in years.

Amanat also touched on the development of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, recalling, "The landscape was open, and that was so liberating. We were like, 'We can do whatever we want." Amanat went on to tease what fans can expect from the rise of Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk as the newly elected Mayor of New York City, asking, "When you give a person whose thirst cannot be quenched his most valued treasure, is it enough? Or does he squeeze his treasure too hard?"

Daredevil: Born Again premiered back in March to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The series stars Charlie Cox in a reprisal of his role as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, as well as numerous other fan-favorites from Marvel Television and Netflix's original Daredevil and subsequent Defenders series. Among the most prominent of these was D'Onofrio's Fisk, whose Marvel Cinematic Universe journey brought him right back to where he started before launching his budding political career.

Ritter shared a video to Instagram that instantly made waves with MCU fans. Specifically, Ritter shared approximately the first half of the official trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 as it was presented to a select audience during New York Comic Con. The footage gave fans their first glimpse at not just Ritter's own return as Jessica Jones, but also their first look at incoming star Matthew Lillard's enigmatic and ominous Mr. Charles, a character slated to pose plenty of problems for Fisk's political aspirations.

Lillard himself previously opened up about his role in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, stating, "I do not wear any lycra, I know you're sad... Playing a superhero—being in that world—means the stakes are really high, and I thrive on that. I'm not the guy you hire for an office drama; I like really high emotional stuff. Charlie [Cox] is fantastic, Vincent D'Onofrio, those guys are both incredible actors, and I'm very proud to be a part of this world."

Daredevil: Born Again is currently available for streaming on Disney+. Season 2 premieres on Mar. 4, 2026.
