Artist Robert Djordjevic of DJ Glass Art has unveiled a breathtaking new Superman-themed stained glass artwork, celebrating the iconic "S" shield through the ages. Based in Windsor, Ontario - just across the river from Detroit - Djordjevic created the piece as both a tribute to the enduring legacy of Superman and a reflection of his own passion for comic book art.
"I created this piece as a tribute to both the past and present Superman logos," said Djordjevic. "I've always been inspired by Alex Ross's Kingdom Come and his incredibe artwork, and that influence definitely shows here."
The custom-made artwork features a series of stylized "S" emblems from Superman's long history, fused into a striking design that evokes a heroic coat of arms. Djordjevic originally conceptualized the piece prior to the pandemic, while showcasing his work at Comic-Con.
"I wanted to capture the spirit of Superman in a unique way - something that felt like a true coat of arms," he said. "The clear glass elements were inspired by the Kryptonian aesthetic from Richard Donner’s Superman films, giving it that crystalline, otherworldly feel."
This one-of-a-kind stained glass creation is now available for purchase at $500 CAD, with additional charges for shipping and handling. While Djordjevic prefers local sales due to the delicate nature of stained glass shipping, he is open to inquiries from collectors beyond the Windsor-Detroit area.
Those interested can contact Djordjevic directly via DM on his Instagram channel or email at Djordjevicsg@live.ca.
Djordjevic also shared that more Superman-inspired glass artwork is in the works, promising future pieces that honor the mythology of the Last Son of Krypton.
