Marvel Comics has teased Armageddon, an event storyline written by Chip Zdarsky, debuting June 2026. Described as a universe-spanning event that will reshape the Avengers in a way not seen since “Disassembled” (the 2004 crossover that kicked off Brian Michael Bendis‘s time on their comic), the series will build on Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti‘s Captain America run, as well as Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, with the teaser art revealing the new Ultimate Universe’s origin boxes will play a major role:
The origin boxes, for those unfamiliar, were created by the new Ultimate Tony Stark to grant superpowers to the heroes who were prevented from gaining them by the Maker (the evil, time-traveling Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe.) Miles Morales brought the most dangerous origin boxes to the main Marvel Universe in the fifth and final issue of Incursion, with the hope the Avengers would figure out what to do with them, and it appears it’ll be a decision he’ll soon regret.
The series will mark Zdarsky’s second event story for Marvel, following 2022’s Daredevil-centric crossover Devil’s Reign. In the meantime, The Will of Doom, a one-shot by the writer and CAFU, bridging the gap between this year’s One World Under Doom (concluding with issue #9 on November 19) and Armageddon, will be released on December 24, and the second arc of Zdarsky’s Captain America run, featuring art by Frank Alpizar & Delio Diaz Cespedes, will explore the aftermath of Doom’s disappearance when it begins with issue #6 on January 21.
Additionally, the rebooted Ultimate Universe will come to a close in Ultimate Endgame, a five-part series kicking off December 31, and Jed MacKay‘s Avengers run will conclude with issue #34 (legacy #800), due out January 14. Details on the latter presumably being relaunched in time for Armageddon, as well as the specifics of the event itself, remain unknown at this time, but a few things are certain: the story of both universes is far from over, and as Zdarsky promised before, “Doom always has a plan…”
