Created by Pires and artist Luca Casalanguida, Lost Fantasy takes place in a world much like the one readers know best, save for the presence of supernatural forces and menacing monstrosities just below the surface. Since making contact with such forces over a hundred years before the events of the series, a band of secretive Great Hunters has worked with various governments to maintain the status quo and prevent the public from worrying about what might be lurking in the shadows. When a mass killing in Montana throws that delicate balance out of order, the young rookie Hunter known as Henry Blackheart is called in to investigate the matter and cut down whatever it is that has been tearing its way across the Mountain States.
Franklin Jonas himself offered a statement regarding the upcoming series, noting that "Comics have been my deepest passion since before I even discovered my voice in music. Writing a book was always a dream and having my name attached to such an incredible world as Lost Fantasy is an absolute honor. I've been preaching the gospel of Lost Fantasy since day one’s release. When Curt reached out to me about collaborating on this exciting new project, I jumped at the opportunity." Jonas added, "I can't wait for people to experience what we've been cooking up."
"I'm so excited to continue to grow Lost Fantasy in collaboration with Image Comics, our amazing retail partners and readers around the world," Pires said of the upcoming spinoff series. "Issue #5 and the volume one trade paperback will be released in stores simultaneously... We're excited to continue telling our story and finding new ways to bring people to your shops!" Apart from setting up the very first Lost Fantasy spinoff series, the fifth issue will also mark the beginning of a whole new chapter in the series' main ongoing story, with Henry being thrust into the middle of a murder mystery revolving around one of his closest family members.
Lost Fantasy #5 goes on sale November 19 from Image Comics.
