A brand-new Star Trek series is on the way this May, and fans willsee Seven of Nine as the Captain of the USS Enterprise-G. New details about the upcoming comic series have finally emerged.

IDW Publishing will launch its new ongoing Star Trek series in May, with the story set after the events of Star Trek: Picard. Christopher Cantwell is set to write, with Dennis Menheere handling the art, and Jodie Troutman handling the letters. A solicit for the new series teases that Seven of Nine will lead the Enterprise on a "top-secret mission to a hidden region of space, beyond the four charted quadrants of the Star Trek galaxy as we know it, to investigate a mysterious power that threatens to unravel the Federation."

Cover art for the new Star Trek #1 was also revealed, as well as details of further celebrations for Star Trek's 60th anniversary. This includes a new title launching in October titled Star Trek: Zero Point, written by Charlie Jane Anders. It will take place alongside the ongoing Star Trek series, focusing on Seven's partner Raffi Muskier leading a new crew on a starship with a focus on artificial intelligence and detecting threats before they even begin.

Joining the new ongoing Star Trek series in May will be Star Trek: Celebrations 2026, which celebrates the LGBTQIA+ characters and their relationships throughout the Trek franchise, following in the footsteps of the first Celebrations one-shot that was released in 2024.

A 50-page anniversary special will be released in September, celebrating Star Trek's 60th anniversary, too. It will feature all-new stories by Dana Gould, Ryan North, Derek Charm, David Walker, Megan Camerena, and more. Lastly, a Star Trek: Starfleet Academy tie-in story, Lost Contact, will hit shelves in April.

In a statement shared with Gizmodo's io9, the creator of the new Star Trek comic series discussed the franchise's epic legacy and how they plan to shape its future with Seven of Nine's new adventures. "As we look back on 60 years of Star Trek, we celebrate a story universe that has actually always been about looking forward—a shared dream swirling within the daunting wonder and awe of the stars," Cantwell revealed. "That is the magic of Star Trek—the kaleidoscopic wonder of its complex themes and notions."

More about Star Trek's universe exploring itself throught the realm of comics was promised. "In building a brand new Star Trek adventure, we seek to do just that: create something brand new, something that looks entirely forward into the hope of the complete—and at times frightening—unknown, all as our ensemble of characters stands shoulder to shoulder, facing the expanse of an adventure never dared before," Cantwell continued. "There is an abundance of incredible mythos that Star Trek has given us over six decades, but with this launch we seek to shed that past even as we embrace its best qualities."

The new ongoing Star Trek series will be released this May from IDW Publishing.
