In a move that unites two universes of heroes and villains, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and DC Comics have announced a groundbreaking partnership.
The centerpiece of this collaboration is a two-issue comic book event that will see some of AEW's biggest names team up with the legendary Justice League.
The Justice League Meets AEW
The crossover will be presented as a 48-page, two-part comic book saga. This epic tale is penned by writer Steve Orlando, with illustrations by Travis Mercer and covers from Lucas Meyer. The story brings together AEW's finest and DC's most iconic Super Heroes on a mission to recover the Big Galactic Belt and prevent a cosmic catastrophe.
The star-studded roster from AEW includes Mercedes Moné, Will Ospreay, Darby Allin, Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, "Hangman" Adam Page, "Timeless" Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Orange Cassidy, and Kenny Omega. They will fight alongside DC legends such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Nightwing, Hawkgirl, Zatanna, Harley Quinn, and Green Lanterns Guy Gardner and John Stewart.
Exclusive Debut at New York Comic Con
Fans attending New York Comic Con (NYCC) will have the first opportunity to experience this crossover. A special preview edition of the comic will be available exclusively at the event, which will also host two special panels.
On Friday, October 10, at 5 p.m. ET, AEW CEO, GM, and Head of Creative Tony Khan will join Jon Moxley, Swerve Strickland, Orange Cassidy, and Willow Nightingale for a panel discussion. They will be joined by the comic's creative team of Steve Orlando and Travis Mercer for the panel, titled "Heroes, Villains, Spaces In-Between: Pro Wrestling and Comic Storytelling".
On Saturday, October 11, at 3 p.m. ET, fans can meet the stars and creators at the DC Comics Booth for a special signing of the preview comic. Jon Moxley, Willow Nightingale, Swerve Strickland, and Orange Cassidy will be present, alongside Steve Orlando, Lucas Meyer, and Travis Mercer.
A Partnership Beyond the Page
The collaboration between the two companies extends even further. DC and AEW will also co-promote the upcoming DC K.O. comic book event across AEW's broadcasts on TBS and TNT, as well as their digital platforms. Additionally, fans can look forward to AEW variant covers for issues of DC K.O..
This partnership will reach its peak when DC Comics becomes the presenting sponsor for AEW's marquee pay-per-view event, Full Gear. Full Gear is set to take place live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
For those unable to attend NYCC, the full two-part DC x AEW comic book event will be available for purchase in 2026 at comic book shops, on ShopAEW.com, and at select AEW live events.
10 Wrestlers Who Landed Roles in Superhero Movies
Who on earth didn't mark out when Macho Man Randy Savage suddenly appeared as the badass 'Bonesaw' in Spiderman? "Bonesaw is ready!!!"
Superhero movies were practically built for wrestling's most legendary performers. It's true that Hulk Hogan was unable to translate his explosive in-ring success into box office gold, but performers like Jesse Ventura and Rowdy Roddy Piper did prove that wrestlers could carry major roles in action films like Predator and They Live!
At the turn of the millennium, as the Marvel and DC Universes birthed some of the most profitable film franchises of all time, wrestlers like Dave Bautista and The Rock would nab starring roles as some of cinema's most powerful heroes. In turn, long forgotten pro wrestlers would experience career rejuvenations thanks to their god-given size and ability to connect with an audience.
Whether it be 'Drax' in the multi-billion dollar franchise Guardians of the Galaxy or 'Claw' in a Hong Kong superhero sequel you've probably never heard of, we're still popping whenever a WWE favorite makes an appearance on the silver screen.
Check out these 10 wrestlers who landed roles in superhero movies in the gallery below.
