If you ask a dozen comic professionals their favorite creators, most — if not all — of that dozen is going to list Alan Moore amongst their favorites. The creator’s creator, Moore is often credited as one of the best to ever write in the medium, and now some of his earliest works are being collected for the first time.
Moore’s 2000 AD stories are being collected by the publisher in a new hardcover omnibus, a series that will feature virtually all of the writer’s work published in the iconic British mag. That even includes a “lost” Moore story that hasn’t seen print in nearly 50 years. The writer first started freelancing for the magazine in the early ’80s, eventually writing over 50 shorts for Future Shocks alone.
“Now, 2000 AD are proud to begin a collection of every Alan Moore story in the form of The Complete 2000 AD By Alan Moore. In volume one, readers will be able to enjoy his mastery of the short-form story as we collect together his Future Shocks and one-off stories into one complete volume,” a press release from the publisher reveals. “Whipsmart and funny, this first volume doubles as the perfect guide for how to write comics to a page limit – and it also includes the story “A Holiday In Hell” which has never been reprinted in English since its first publication in 1980!”
2000 AD has officially announced The Complete 2000 AD By Alan Moore Vol. 1, which will end up collecting over 250 pages of stories written by Moore. Titles featured in the first volume include all of Moore’s time on Future Shocks and Time Twisters, in addition to stories featuring characters such as The ABC Warriors, Ro-Busters and Rogue Trooper; a Tharg The Mighty one-off, and Ro-Jaws’ Robo Tales.
The first volume of this new series of collection isn’t expected to release until April 2026, although it is currently available for pre-order on the 2000 AD website. It’s available in both hardcover and softcover formats for $66.99 and $53.99, respectively.
