This issue marks the return of one of the best Spidey writers of all time: Roger Stern. It’s a simple one-and-done against a cornball villain, which leaves Roger plenty of space to do dialogue and character work. The letter page, which now has a very unimaginative title and logo, pays homage to Stern but lets us know this will be a one-shot deal. He’s not joining the regularly rotating crew.

So, basically, this was a fill-in that really doesn’t tie to the “Brand New Day” storylines.
