The following contains major spoilers for Iron Man #2, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
One of Iron Man's oldest allies has just turned on him with a brutal reminder of just how strong they have always been.
Iron Man #2 finds the titular hero in the midst of a desperate race to try and save his company from yet another hostile takeover carried out by some of his worst enemies. Hoping that he can find some amount of a kindred spirit in Monica Rappaccini, the Scientist Supreme of A.I.M., Tony takes to the skies and heads straight for her elusive fortress. Unfortunately, there is nothing he can offer the competition to talk Rappaccini into backing down, especially not when she has somehow convinced his old ally Doctor Druid to take up arms against him.

Originally introduced as Doctor Droom in Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko's story "I Am the Fantastic Dr. Droom!" from the pages of 1961's Amazing Adventures #1, Anthony Ludgate was an otherwise ordinary man who left his home in the United Kingdom to pursue his education as a psychologist and psychiatrist in the United States. After discovering he was descended from a powerful line of druids, Anthony became solely interested in uncovering whatever latent powers he might possess. As such, he took to Tibet in search of the Ancient One, who trained Anthony in the Mystic Arts and helped give rise to his budding career as a superhero.
After years of adventuring as Doctor Droom, Anthony changed his name to Doctor Druid and began falling in with some more recognizable Marvel heroes. These included not just Doctor Strange, but even the Avengers, both of whom Doctor Druid would fight alongside for decades to come. Doctor Druid would tragically lose his life as part of a plot concocted by Daimon Hellstrom and the villainous Nekra, bringing his story to a temporary close in 1995's Druid #4 by Warren Ellis and Leonardo Manco.

Doctor Druid officially returned to life in the pages of 2020's Dr. Strange #2 by Mark Waid and Kev Walker, albeit under still unknown circumstances. Though Doctor Strange attempted to press his old ally about the matter, Doctor Druid only offered that he no longer wished to be a superhero and would not indulge the subject any further. Since then, Doctor Druid has been involved in a handful of storylines, though his usual duties alongside the likes of Earth's Mightiest Heroes have fallen by the wayside entirely.
