‘Boundless’ Creator Launches Cross-Media Fantasy Hub

1 day ago 8

Independent creator Mike Salsbury has launched a new digital storytelling platform that signals a push toward creator-owned fantasy worlds at a time when the entertainment industry is under pressure to deliver fresh intellectual property. The site  brings together multiple original projects under one hub, with a focus on long-form worldbuilding and cross-media expansion.

At the center of the launch is Boundless, an ongoing fantasy webcomic currently published on WEBTOON. The story follows Rudy, a fox in hiding, and Emily, a young traveler searching for a larger purpose. The series mixes character-driven scenes with a wider mystery that unfolds slowly, a structure that mirrors current trends in streaming-era storytelling. The full graphic novel version is available through the platform for Patreon supporters, signaling a direct-to-consumer model that cuts around traditional publishing channels.

Salsbury is positioning the platform as more than a comic site. He is building a connected slate of projects that includes Hesper & The Akshapa, a story focused on unstable magic and the limits of power, and Tanthra, a large-scale fantasy set in a divided world shaped by political tension and mistrust. Both projects lean into themes that reflect broader cultural concerns about control, balance, and fractured societies.

Another project, The Path to Zinji, is in development with Top Shelf Productions and IDW Publishing. That partnership adds industry weight and suggests Salsbury is not operating entirely outside the system, even as he builds an independent platform. Details remain limited, but the project is described as an exploration-driven narrative with a focus on discovery and travel.

Salsbury is also expanding into interactive media with Paws & Claws Studios, a story-driven game built in Unreal Engine and targeting a 2027 release. The game follows a golden retriever navigating an abandoned facility, blending puzzle-solving with a slow-building mystery. This move reflects a wider shift as creators look to diversify beyond print and tap into gaming audiences.

“I’ve always loved stories that feel immersive and transportive,” Salsbury said. “The goal with the site was to create a place where readers could step into different worlds and continue exploring them over time.”

The platform includes visual development art, music, and early concept work, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look that has become standard in modern fandom engagement. As major studios consolidate and reduce risk, smaller creators are moving faster to claim space with original ideas and direct audience access. Salsbury’s launch fits that pattern, and its success will depend on whether audiences continue to support independent storytelling outside legacy systems.

Readers can explore the platform here, at and read Boundless over on WEBTOON.
