As we near the highly anticipated follow-up to studio Mappa‘s Chainsaw Man anime in Chainsaw Man—The Movie: Reze Arc, the film’s opening animation and theme have been released, giving us a tease at what’s to come with Chainsaw Man’s first big screen outing.
On October 7, 2025, the opening animation for the film was released worldwide on YouTube and social media, accompanied by the theme song for the Reze/Bomb Girl Arc. This theme is “IRIS OUT” by Kenshi Yonezu, who fans will recall created the opening theme for Chainsaw Man‘s first season, KICK BACK.
Watch the music video below:
The opening animation, which is under three minutes, begins with the morning routine of our main protagonist, Denji (Chainsaw Man), Aki Hayakawa, and Power (The Blood Devil). Our cat-loving and stinky gremlin, Power, noticeably has four large horns now due to consuming enough blood between the end of the Katana Man Arc and the start of the Bomb Girl Arc, enhancing her abilities as the blood fiend. From there, Denji and Aki have to literally drag her with them to work, as Denji can be seen spacing out from the monotonous day-to-day job as a Devil hunter.
Throughout the opening, we get teases of the titular Reze, working at the cafe where she is employed, though we never quite see her face (at least yet). As the opening nears its end, we get teases that Makima, the head of Public Safety Devil Hunter’s Tokyo Special Division 4 and 5, is getting closer and closer to Denji as she hangs out with him after work more often and even provides him with the keys to her apartment. The opening concludes with Makima reading Denji’s profile and report as he enters her office.
The opening serves as a prelude to the Bomb Girl Arc as it reintroduces viewers to our main trio and the supporting cast of characters, teases our new main antagonist for this arc, and showcases how Denji feels divorced from the monotony of slaying devils across Japan. The only thing he genuinely looks forward to in this dull moment is spending time with Makima, whom he is developing feelings for.

Meanwhile, internationally, the film is already climbing the box office, bringing in over $44.4 million, including in Japan.
The film will be released exclusively in the United States on October 24, 2025, and has an R-rating by the MPAA for strong bloody violence/gore and some nudity.
