CinemaCon ’25: SPIDER-MAN 4 is a BRAND NEW DAY, BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE lands release date

During Sony Pictures‘ presentation at this year’s CinemaCon, the studio revealed the title of the next live-action Spider-Man film, as well as the new release date for the third animated Spider-Verse movie. The next Tom Holland film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, and releasing on July 31, 2026, will be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a video message, Holland told attendees, “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home [in 2021], so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”

It’s also an appropriate title because it shares its name with the fresh start The Amazing Spider-Man comic received in 2008, which followed on from the controversial “One More Day,” a storyline that was very loosely adapted into No Way Home. That movie ended with everyone forgetting Peter Parker’s existence, restoring his secret identity as Spider-Man, but at the cost of his relationships with his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon). Besides that, nothing else is known about the movie (not even when it will take place in the MCU’s timeline), although Sadie Sink is set to join the cast in an undisclosed part, while Zendaya and Batalon are also set to return.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse received a June 4, 2027 release date, meaning the third film in the trilogy will arrive in theaters a full four years after Across the Spider-Verse. It’s a remarkable delay, given the film was originally meant to be released on March 29, 2024, but given the backlash its otherwise acclaimed predecessor received over reports about studio mismanagement and animators being overworked, it’s for the best. Co-writer/producer Phil Lord, and directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, told the audience, “We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right. It’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy.”
