“Bad Reception”

On Planet Amanna, somewhere in the Draco Galaxy, the now youthful looking Agatha Harkness has retreated from Earth to enjoy the magic power world far from her enemies. To anyone else, escaping their legal and otherworldly punishments would suffice, but not Lady Harkess. She is always prying into the lives of her enemies. It helps when the entire planet she now resides runs on magical energies. What trouble will she get herself into this time?

“Do Androids Dream In The Witch House?”

It’s Halloween night at Lotkill and the Vision just cannot grasp the concept of costume parties. No matter, Scarlet Witch and her best android have a mystery to solve. Who or what opened the Last Door on the right?

“The Green Tide”

From insects, to mammals, to sea life, an aggressive mutation strain has spread from somewhere within the Everglades. Is there anyone who can stop the infection before… Nope, too late! Now Prince Namor is involved. Just great. He always makes the situation better. Right…

“Monster Games”

Deep beneath the streets of Manhattan lay a secret world of beasts and sorcery. The Monster Metropolis has become a sanctuary for those creatures unwelcome in the human world. Some, like Jack Russell, even there, cannot find peace. Tonight, a werewolf is being hunted by the world’s most renowned tracker, Kraven the Hunter.

Reviewer Notes

We have arrived at this year’s release of Marvel Comics one-shot edition of Crypt of Shadows. Doctor Strange is out, and the classic monsters are back in. Man-Thing and Werewolf By Night are just a few to grace the pages of this Halloween tradition. Too bad this anthology doesn’t quite hold up to its predecessors. At least they are using the real Werewolf By Night this time. I’m giving Volume 05 three out of five stars.
