Marvel's Merc with a Mouth just uncovered the most horrifying aspect of his own powers.

After making his way into the sewers of New York City, the titular antihero of the series Wade Wilson: Deadpool #6 (by Benjamin Percy, Alex Lins, Alex Sinclair, and Joe Sabino) finds himself staring down a ravenous army of twisted variants of himself. Rather than being malevolent clones or hailing from some alternate reality, however, these Badpools are the remnants of Deadpool's many previous injuries, which only makes things that much worse.

How Deadpool's Powers Have Changed for the Worse

The official solicit synopsis for Wade Wilson: Deadpool #6 from Marvel Comics reads, "BADPOOLS! Who's that knockin' at the door? Sounds like Wade. SMELLS like Wade. But it's not Wade... OR IS IT?! The BADPOOLS enter the scene, and DEADPOOL's life will never be the same!"

The emergence of the Badpools and the evolution of Deadpool's mutant healing factor both come as the latest development for Wade's abilities. It wasn't all that long ago that the villain known as Death Grip used the fabled Muramasa Blade to cut Deadpool down and leave him incapable of healing himself. Although Wade was eventually resurrected, his healing factor hasn't been working at nearly the same rate, leaving the likes of his daughter Ellie Camacho to fill in for a time.

In the time since, Deadpool's healing factor has slowly regained its former potency, opening the door for the Merc with a Mouth to return to action in full. Unfortunately, the rise of the Badpools confirms that this isn't necessarily for the best, especially when these pint-sized horrors are out for blood. From what readers have gleaned so far, the Badpools are fully intent on consuming Deadpool, all in the hopes that doing so will give them what they need to fully regenerate into their own complete individuals.

As terrifying as this new aspect of Deadpool's powers might be, it is only the latest shift to the character's usual status quo to come about in recent months. It wasn't all that long ago that Deadpool's longtime confidant Blind Al revealed herself to be the source of the mysterious omens which have been directing Wade towards various catastrophes. Unsurprisingly, this drew the attention of Maggia mainstay Hammerhead, who did his best to capture Blind Al and use her newfound abilities to further his own criminal enterprises.
