Rebellion has announced Ghost Patrol, the next major Rogue Trooper storyline to grace the pages of 2000 AD in time for the September jumping-on issue of the weekly anthology comic. Written by Alex de Campi and illustrated by Neil Edwards, Ghost Patrol promises to dig deeper into the secret origins of Rogue himself.
According to the press release:
“Hot on the heels of this week’s first look at the Rogue Trooper film from director Duncan Jones, coming to screens in 2026 – jump onboard with 2000 AD the comic this September for the start of a massive new storyline! From the creative team of Alex de Campi and Neil Edwards, Ghost Patrol explores the history of the Genetic Infantryman project which created Rogue and his fellow G.I. comrades.”
Rogue Trooper is a genetically modified soldier bred to withstand the toxic No Man’s Land of a blighted war planet seeking the traitor that betrayed him and his deceased comrades – whose personalities are stored on biochips hooked up to Rogue’s equipment. The series was created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, debuting way back in 1981’s 2000 AD Prog 228.
Ghost Patrol will kick off in Prog 2450, releasing September 17 in the UK and online (and in the prog pack shipping October 29 to the US). That same issue will also see the return of the much-anticipated clockwork punk series Brass Sun – and the following issue, Prog 2451, will see a brand new Rob Williams’ scripted Judge Dredd storyline alongside artist Henry Flint.
This Rogue Trooper story promises to be new reader friendly, as Rebellion have been hard at work building up stories featuring Rogue and his world ahead of the Duncan Jones written and directed movie adaptation in 2026.
Teasing what to expect, writer Alex de Campi said:
“Rogue Trooper: Ghost Patrol is an epic, action-filled dive into the secret history of the Genetic Infantrymen and the lost soldiers whose skills were used to build them.”
Adding that there is something for both old fans and newcomers:
“There are a ton of riffs on and references to classic Rogue stories… as well as to Duncan’s upcoming Rogue Trooper film.
“You need to know absolutely zero about Rogue Trooper to get it. This is (chad face) ‘chapter one, bro’ stuff.”
Neil Edwards said about working on the story:
“I really enjoy working on future war stories and getting to draw Rogue and all the future tech is fantastic – along with working with Alex, whose script is just super; with tons of action and twists and turns!”
