Doom 2099 is having a bit of a strange moment at the time, since he is the central figure of the blockbuster video game, Marvel Rivals, as that video game is about Doom and Doom 2099 battling each other through time for the control of the Multiverse in a "Timestream Entanglement."
Doom 2099 is the star of a new miniseries from writer Frank Tieri, artist Von Randal, colorist Andrew Dalhouse, and lettterer Travis Lanham, and we see a reality where Doom made a terrible decision during his period as the "Emperor" of Earth, and now he is the only person left on Earth, and the only way he can save the world is by stopping....himself?!

ULTRON VS. DOOM!
DOCTOR DOOM’S spell didn’t just annihilate his enemies – it wiped out all life on Earth, leaving even him to regret the cost. In the desolate future of DOOMED 2099, Doom discovers ULTRON’S buried head and risks everything to repair his time machine. But awakening a dangerously powerful machine intelligence invites new rebellion, and the path to redemption may demand a price even Doom never anticipated.
32 PGS./ONE-SHOT/Rated T+ …$4.99
In the preview pages, we see a flashback to an alternate reality version of the events of One World Under Doom, where Doctor Doom, as the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, has chosen to essentially take over the whole planet. He is fighting against the world's heroes, and they appear to defeat him. Von Randal has a great splash page featuring all of the heroes surrounding a seemingly defeated Doom.
However, Doom is a stubborn son of a gun, and so when he was trapped between defeat and destruction, he chose the latter, and broke out a spell that was too dangerous for him to ever try before, and while it succeeded in killing all of his enemies, it was much more powerful than he thought it would be, and Doom ended up wiping out all life on Earth!
The spell was one hidden deep in the Darkhold, and Doom really shouldn't have messed with it. Now, trapped in a world where there are only robots created in the image of his old friends and enemies, Doom has to decide whether to go back in time to stop himself. As we see from the cover, in a world of robots, Ultron is going to be involved, as well, but the preview pages doesn't make it clear just what role that villain will play.
If you want to see how it all ties together, you'll have to pick up a copy of Doom 2099: Rage of Doom #1 next week at your local comic book store!
