Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. However, his passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrellla... especially Batman.
While Marvel fans anxiously await the unconfirmed return of Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen teased what X-Men storyline she'd hypothetically love to take on.
The Emmy nominee and younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen has a favorite arc from Marvel Comics, which, of no surprise to anyone, does prominently feature Scarlet Witch. In late September 2025, while participating in a panel discussion at ComicCon LA, Olsen took an opportunity to express her love for House of M.
While seated next to the Vision to her Wanda, Paul Bettany (who has a Vision spinoff in the works), Elizabeth Olsen was asked by the panel moderator, Joseph Deckelmeier from Screen Rant, if there were any stories from the comics that have yet to be adapted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe that she would like to see brought to life. Indeed, the actor had a title in particular and responded with the following:
I mean, I just think that House of M is just the coolest. I don't how to make it make sense... Maybe there's some fan pitches or theories out there. But I just think it could be so fun to deal with X-Men and Avengers, and 'No more mutants.'
Olsen ended her answer with, just about, the most famous quote from the 2005 limited Marvel Comics series from writer Brian Michael Bendis and artists Olivier Coipel, Tim Townsend and Frank D'Armata. House of M involves a plan, orchestrated by Professor Charles Xavier, to enlist the Avengers and the X-Men to kill Wanda Maximoff, whose grief from losing her twin sons, whom she conjured into reality herself, has come with many destructive, reality-altering consequences. However, before they can enact the deadly assignment, reality changes once again.
Scarlet Witch creates a new world in which every living person's wildest dreams come true, such as that she is reunited with the twins and her father, Magneto, is the planet's supreme ruler. The bit catch is that no one else remembers their past lives, except for Wolverine. After he gathers his fellow super-powered allies and reboots their memories with the help of a young mutant named Layla Miller, they manage to convince Wanda to agree to revert reality back to its original form, but she double-crosses them by lowering the mutant population by 98%.
Elizabeth Olsen Has Gushed Over House Of M Before

Olsen's brief ComicCon LA spiel is far from the first time she has talked about why she enjoys House of M, nor is it the first time she has supported the idea of starring in a proper adaptation. In fact, while promoting Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015 alongside Quicksilver actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, she told ScreenRant (via YouTube) that she assumed a storyline in which Scarlet Witch goes "nuts" over losing her "two fake babies" would be too dark for the MCU. This turned out to be a pretty spot-on prediction of the plot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, however.
Of course, that 2022 sequel, from director Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, ended with the supposed death of Wanda Maximoff, which many fans still see as a disservice to the character because of her great storytelling potential, such as a House of M movie, perhaps. Then again, WandaVision did borrow quite a bit from that arc, as did the events of Doctor Strange 2, so it appears that is the closest the MCU will ever come to adapting the story. Yet, with the X-Men finally becoming part of the franchise, it might at least be beneficial to see the Scarlet Witch make a return someday, somehow.
Elizabeth Olsen has an upcoming supernatural dramedy from A24, Eternity, which is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 26, 2025.
