Elon Musk’s newest children are making headlines for their unusual names drawn from The Lord of the Rings and the hit video game Elden Ring. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO revealed the meanings behind the names after a recent photo with the twins surfaced on January 7.

The picture, posted by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley, showed Musk with the twins and included a quote calling parenthood “a statement of optimism.” The children’s mother is Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink, Musk’s brain-technology company.

Musk said his son’s name, Strider Sekhar, reflects both fiction and science. Strider was the alias used by Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings, symbolizing courage and quiet strength. The middle name, Sekhar, honors famed physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, whose research transformed modern astrophysics.

The billionaire’s daughter is named Comet Azure, inspired by Comet Azur, one of the most powerful spells in Elden Ring. In the game, the spell unleashes a massive magical comet, known for its range and destruction. “It’s a cool name with great energy,” Musk wrote in a comment responding to fans.

Musk has never hidden his love for gaming. He called Elden Ring his favorite game of 2022, though players mocked his gameplay choices online. Over the years, he has praised classic and modern titles alike and even suggested founding his own game studio using AI.

Analysts say the trend of celebrity baby names inspired by pop culture keeps growing. For Musk, the names signal more than fandom—they echo the mix of science, technology, and fantasy that shapes much of his public life.
