Exclusive: Oni Press declares THE END of RICK AND MORTY

Oni Press‘s first Rick and Morty event comic, Rick and Morty vs. the Universe, is currently at the halfway point, but The Beat can exclusively reveal the publisher’s next series for the infamous grandfather and grandson, Rick and Morty: The End. Writer Daniel Kibblesmith and Jarrett Williams will reunite on the six-part follow-up, which’ll find Rick Sanchez on the run from nearly everyone, including his grandson.

The official synopsis elaborates, “Rick Sanchez, the most wanted man in this and every other universe, is on the run. With a bounty on his head, every government, military, pirate, mobster, bounty hunter, bail bondsman, religious institution, theater troupe, circus clown, and endangered species is on the hunt to bring in Rick – DEAD OR ALIVE. The only one who can bring Rick in warm is the one person who knows him best: Morty Smith. But Morty’s not the only Smith hot on Rick’s trail… ‘Space Beth’ Smith is determined to bring Rick in, and she doesn’t particularly care how. Now it’s just a question of who can get to him first…!”

Oni adds that the title is “not some kind of artful metaphor,” suggesting the series may very well be the publisher’s final Rick and Morty comic. The company has published numerous Rick and Morty series since 2015. The TV show itself, which premiered in 2013, continues to go strong with no apparent end in sight, with its eighth season having concluded on July 27, 2025, and a spin-off centered around President Curtis currently in the works.

Issue #1 will be released on December 3, with covers by Dave Bardin (Wolverine), Troy Little (Cult of the Lamb), Tom Fowler (Books of Magic), and more, who’ll be revealed at a later date. In the meantime, Rick and Morty vs. the Universe will conclude with issue #4 on October 22, while the latest tie-in issue, Beth, ‘Til Death, is out now.
