Writer-director James Gunn has officially confirmed that the next chapter in the newly launched Superman Saga is already in motion, with a completed treatment and production anticipated to begin sooner than many expected.

In recent comments with Collider, Gunn revealed that while the project will follow 2025's Superman, it should not be viewed as a traditional sequel. Instead, it marks the next major story in the saga, continuing the character's journey within the broader DC Universe.

"We're scheduling it now," stated Gunn. "I'm totally done with the treatment. My treatments are incredibly intense. They're not regular treatments. They're 60-page treatments with dialogue and everything. And so, now I'm just turning that into a script. We're planning out when we're going to shoot that. It's going to be much sooner rather than later."

The new film will again feature David Corenswet as Superman, but Gunn emphasized that it is not simply Superman 2. Rather, the installment is positioned as a crucial part of DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, expanding the interconnected narrative that DC Studios is building across both film and television. Gunn also pointed to Peacemaker Season 2, premiering August 21st, 2025, as a key bridge between Superman and the upcoming film, further highlighting his commitment to a unified and cohesive storytelling approach.

As co-CEO of DC Studios, Gunn has become the driving force behind a bold reimagining of the DCU. With Superman establishing the foundation earlier this year, the swift movement on its follow-up reflects the studio's determination to build momentum and deliver a new era of character-driven superhero storytelling.
