Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is about to kick off a whole different kind of adventure thanks to IDW Publishing.

On August 27, fans will officially get the chance to dive into the latest story set in the world of their favorite sci-fi franchise with the release of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Salvation #1 from IDW Publishing. Written by Robbie Thompson, who also wrote for the upcoming fourth season of the hit streaming series, and featuring art by Travis Mercer, who has become a mainstay of IDW's corner of the franchise with his work on titles such as Star Trek: Lore War and Star Trek: Omega, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Salvation #1 will see Enterprise nurse Christine Chapel take center stage in exactly the kind of pulse-pounding mission she has been waiting to join.

The official solicit synopsis for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds – The Seeds of Salvation #1 from IDW Publishing reads, "After plodding through uneventful mission after uneventful mission, Christine Chapel is itching for a real adventure. So, when an opportunity to reunite with her old scientist friend Jinare for research on the planet Poilant crops up, Chapel is excited to finally do what Starfleet does best: explore strange new worlds. However, when the Enterprise arrives in Poilant's space, the crew cannot get into contact with Jinare or any of her researchers. Chapel, Una, Spock, La'An, and Scotty beam down, and they are greeted by... nothing... no one... and no signs of what caused their disappearance, only a robot named D6 who urges them to descend into the planet's depths in search of his friends. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered on Paramount+ in 2022 and immediately cemented itself as the latest in a long line of hit Star Trek series. Serving as both a spinoff of 2017's Star Trek: Discovery and the original 1966 series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set more than a decade before the events of Star Trek. The series follows the crew of the USS Enterprise as led by Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds features an ensemble cast including Celia Rose Rooding as Nyota Uhura, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas, Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M'Benga, Martin Quinn as Montgomery Scott, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, and Jess Bush as Christine Chapel.

Upon its release, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds garnered rave reviews from critics, as well as some seriously strong streaming numbers. As of the time of writing, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds holds a near-perfect 94% "Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across more than 100 verified critical reviews of the series. Fans are currently awaiting the release of the series' fourth season, which is due to arrive sometime in 2026, and will see the crew of the USS Enterprise encounter some truly mind-bending circumstances, including being transformed into puppets.
