The first look at a few protagonists from the upcoming Street Fighter reboot has been revealed, giving fans a glimpse at some of the cast members in costume. Early signs point to a faithful adaptation of the popular video game series, with costumes matching the look of the characters longtime players will recognize.
Actor Andrew Schulz, who appears in the movie, recently shared behind-the-scenes footage from the set on Instagram. Callina Liang was shown in costume as Chun-Li, although her outfit was only partly visible. Noah Centineo appeared as Ken Masters with blonde hair and an all-red outfit, a look that mirrors his video game design. These clips were enough to assure fans that the film intends to stay close to the original material.

Street Fighter is directed by Kitao Sakurai, whose previous work includes Bad Trip. The cast features Andrew Koji as Ryu, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Orville Peck as Vega, along with Liang and Centineo.
The story is set in 1993 and begins with Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo, reuniting after a long separation. Their lives are upended when Chun-Li recruits them to fight in the World Warrior Tournament. The official synopsis describes it as “a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury” with a deeper conspiracy that pushes the two friends into conflict with each other and their own pasts.
The project has faced obstacles on its way to production. Development began in 2023 with directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who were initially set to lead the film and had already begun developing action-heavy set pieces. They later left the project due to scheduling issues and shifted to work on another movie, leaving Sakurai to step in as director.
Production also faced distribution challenges. Earlier this year, Legendary Entertainment removed the film from its release schedule after Sony Pictures Releasing decided not to distribute it. Filming still moved forward, and a new deal with Paramount was reached in September to ensure its theatrical release.
Street Fighter is scheduled to open in theaters on October 16, 2026. With its large ensemble cast and commitment to visual authenticity, the reboot is shaping up to be a more faithful rendition than earlier live-action attempts.
