DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have unveiled the first official look at Jason Momoa as the infamous DC Comics anti-hero Lobo with the release of a new teaser trailer for Supergirl (2026). The debut footage offers fans their first glimpse of Momoa fully embodying the cigar-chomping, intergalactic bounty hunter, marking the long-anticipated live-action arrival of one of DC's most notorious characters.
The teaser, released today, features a brief but striking appearance from Momoa, whose rugged presence and unmistakable charisma align closely with the character's larger-than-life reputation. His introduction signals an expansion of the DC Universe's cosmic frontier and confirms Lobo as a significant new force within the evolving film slate.
"Supergirl" (2026) stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and is directed by Craig Gillespie, with James Gunn and Peter Safran producing for DC Studios. Drawing inspiration from the acclaimed graphic novel "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow", the film follows Kara as she journeys beyond Earth, grappling with the legacy of Krypton's destruction while navigating a violent and morally complex universe. The story places Supergirl on a collision course with dangerous cosmic figures, with Lobo's arrival adding an unpredictable and volatile element to her path. The film is scheduled for international release on June 24, 2026, and a North American theatrical release on June 26, 2026.
Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in "Omega Men #3" in 1983 and has since become one of DC Comics' most recognizable anti-heroes. A Czarnian by origin, Lobo is infamous for exterminating his own species and forging a fearsome reputation as a ruthless bounty hunter for hire. Endowed with immense superhuman strength, near-immortality, rapid regeneration, and an unbreakable commitment to honoring his contracts, Lobo - often referred to as "The Main Man" - is both feared and begrudgingly respected across the galaxy.
Momoa has long been associated with fan speculation surrounding the character and has frequently expressed his enthusiasm for portraying Lobo. His casting has been widely embraced as a natural fit, with audiences and industry observers alike praising the alignment between actor and character. The teaser's release confirms Lobo's official debut within the new DC Universe and underscores DC Studios' commitment to bold, character-driven storytelling.
Coinciding with the teaser's debut, the DC Shop has also launched new "Supergirl" (2026) merchandise featuring Lobo, giving fans their first opportunity to collect officially licensed items inspired by the character's cinematic introduction. The release further signals DC's broader rollout surrounding the film as anticipation continues to build.
With the first official look now revealed and new merchandise available, "Supergirl" (2026) is rapidly shaping up to be one of DC Studios' most highly anticipated releases, promising a sweeping, cosmic story that introduces iconic characters to a new generation of moviegoers.
