Following up from the Danny Ketch miniseries, Ketch teams up with Blackout, Doghead, Death Ninja, and a new version of The Orb to fight on Zadkiel’s side against Johnny Blaze’s war on heaven.
They come after Caretaker first, who has Blaze’s old Hellfire shotgun and kills Doghead…
And Death Ninja.
He then takes Death Ninja’s sword and stabs Blackout in the nuts.
Ketch and Caretaker face each other, and Caretaker tells Ketch that he should be allied with Blaze, but Ketch beats him bloody and sets fire to Caretaker’s house.
Johnny Blaze and Sister Sara arrive to find Caretaker nearly dead. With his final breadth, he tells Sara that her job as the last of his bloodline is to inherit his work.
Under his house was a secret library holding information about all the ghost riders through history–hence, why Caretaker is called Caretaker. He tells Johnny that everything he wants to know about Zarathos, Noble Kale, Zadkiel, and the Medallion of Power are in that library. But Blaze has to get through Blackout to get there.
While they’re fighting, the fire spreads to the library and burns the books–but Sara is mystically imbued with all of the information inside them, becoming a human library.
Danny Ketch escapes through a mystical door called, “Tibet,” and Sara tells Johnny she will tell him everything he needs to know if he will include her in his war on Heaven.
Finally, speaking of Heaven, we see Caretaker ascend, only to be met by Zadkiel who cuts him into pieces and condemns his soul to eternal pain.
This is the first good look we’ve had of Zadkiel. He’s pretty badass.
It’s also the best Ghost Rider story I’ve read since…The last Jason Aaron Ghost Rider story. This series has become a “must read.”
