DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment's latest crossover comic book is making major waves with retailers.

Per Comic Book Club Live, the recently released first issue of DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment's Harley Quinn x Elvira limited series has sold more than 91,000 copies at the distributor level. The series, written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti and illustrated by Juan Samu, has proven to be a hit with fans, with early orders bringing in far greater numbers than many were expecting, especially when Elvira herself exists in such a niche corner of the realm of pop culture. Readers can check out the various covers for the first issue of Harley Quinn x Elvira in the image gallery down below.

Dynamite Entertainment CEO Nick Barrucci opened up about the success of Harley Quinn x Elvira, "The combination of such a unique cross-over that no one expected with Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner writing it, and this is the creative team who had some of the best-selling Harley Quinn stories, excited fans and hit the numbers we were hoping for."

Created and portrayed by the legendary Cassandra Peterson, Elvira served as the host of the early '80s anthology series Elvira's Movie Macabre. The show helped launch her to the heights of genre stardom, which eventually gave way to her own feature film debut in the form of 1988's Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. The film cemented Elvira's place as a queer and counterculture icon, which only grew in the years that followed. Although Elvira's overall popularity has waned at various points in the decades since her introduction, the success of books such as Death of Elvira and Harley Quinn x Elvira proves just how much fans still love the Mistress of the Dark.

The official solicit synopsis for Harley Quinn x Elvira #1 from DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment reads, "What happens when the Clown Princess of Crime gets bored? Shenanigans, hijinks, grievous bodily harm... the possibilities are endless! Now add in a certain macabre-minded TV host who seems to attract trouble like crypts attract vampires, and the stage is set for the greatest team-up since Frankenstein met his Bride! With her beloved show on the chopping block following a corporate takeover, Elvira needs to come up with a plan to get things back in the black - and her new friend Harley Quinn has an idea that's just crazy enough to work! Together, they're going to throw the greatest Halloween party Brooklyn has ever seen - whether the borough likes it or not!"

Harley Quinn x Elvira #1 goes on sale October 15 from DC Comics and Dynamite Entertainment.
