This weekend, the Hollywood Bowl will once again bring movie magic to life with Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating the Music of John Williams, a spectacular three-night concert series running August 22nd - 24th. Conducted by David Newman and performed by the world-renowned Los Angeles Philharmonic, the annual tradition pays tribute to one of cinema's greatest composers, whose work has defined the sound of blockbuster storytelling for nearly half a century.
Audiences will experience Williams's timeless scores performed live with film clips projected on the Bowl's massive screens, creating a sweeping journey through some of the most celebrated moments in cinematic history. Among the highlights is the triumphant "Superman March", a piece that has become synonymous with truth, justice, and the heroic spirit of the Man of Steel.
In addition to the "Superman March", the program will feature an exciting lineup of Williams's most beloved compositions including:
• "The Flight to Neverland" from "Hook"
• Suite from "Far and Away"
• "Sayuri's Theme" from "Memoirs of a Geisha"
• "The Shark Cage Fugue/Out to Sea" from "Jaws"
• "Three Million Light Years from Home" from "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"
• "Stargazers" from "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"
• "Flying Theme" from "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"
• "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra" from "Indiana Jones"
• "Helena's Theme" from "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"
• "Raiders March" from "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark"
• "The Adventures of Han" from "Solo: A Star Wars Story"
• "Princess Leia's Theme" from "Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope"
• "Throne Room and Finale" from Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope"
For the first 500 guests each evening, the Hollywood Bowl will hand out complimentary lightsabers, adding a playful touch as audiences prepare to relive the magic of the Star Wars galaxy under the stars.
Since 1981, John Williams's music has been a cornerstone of the Hollywood Bowl's summer season, attracting audiences of all ages to experience the thrill of hearing film's greatest scores brought to life.
