A new platform called ICDb.app could change how comic creators and publishers work together. It is designed to serve writers, artists, editors, and independent publishers who often struggle to organize their projects, showcase their work, and find new jobs in a crowded market. We originally reported on this back in May of last years, but the project has now completed its beta testing and is accepting creators to join.
ICDb stands for Internet Comic Database. The platform works like a mix of IMDb and Slack. IMDb is used in the film industry to catalog credits and filmographies, while Slack helps teams communicate and manage shared projects. ICDb brings these functions into one place for comics, giving creators a centralized tool to handle files, resumes, portfolios, and communication.

The service allows users to upload their comic pages, sketches, scripts, covers, and character designs in organized folders that match publishing and distribution standards. Once uploaded, creators can share those materials privately with collaborators or make them public to promote their work. Unlike basic cloud storage systems, ICDb recognizes the unique file types and sizes common in comic production. The platform’s database then tags and stores the work for easier submission to editors, publishers, and marketing partners.
Creators can also build public profiles that act as online resumes, showing their credits and past projects. Editors, publishers, and potential employers can browse those profiles to find talent or collaborators. Instead of using several different sites for portfolios, file sharing, and project management, ICDb combines those functions into one space. The platform may also lower costs for freelancers who currently pay for separate file storage and management tools.

The project was developed by a team led by creative professionals who saw a gap in the market for a secure, industry-specific database. One of the founders first introduced the idea more than two years ago under the name Collabbr. Over time, it grew into a full platform with support from developers in the United States and Europe.
ICDb is now inviting creators and publishers to sign up at ICDb.app. There is a base version of ICDb that’s completely FREE, but for the professional creator needing access to data storage and other advanced features, there is a paid subscription option. For the month of January, working professionals can sign up for as low as $40 per year after a two week free trial
If ICDb grows, it could become a useful tool for professional comic creators who work independently or across multiple companies. It aims to reduce time spent on admin work and let creators focus more on producing stories and art. For many freelancers in comics, this new platform might finally connect the creative and business sides of publishing in one place.
