Keanu Reeves' Cult Classic Character Returning for a New Horror-Fantasy Saga

Keanu Reeves' BRKZRKR is about to embark upon a whole new high-seas horror story.

Per an exclusive first look from Entertainment Weekly, Reeves' immortal warrior known only as B is heading back to comic book stores everywhere this November with the release of BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1. Written by Reeves and Marjorie Liu and featuring art by Garry Brown, BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1 will find B uncovered from the depths of the sea by a captain in dire need of help defending herself and her crew from the impending threat of a horde of vampires.

The official solicit synopsis for BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1 from BOOM! Studios reads, "Can B. quell the bleeding tide? When the Captain follows a strange heartbeat into the depths of the ocean, she finds a box chained in irons — and the deformed mass of legendary warrior B. inside. Now awakened, B. must jump into battle to defend the crew from an ambush at sea despite rising concerns. What is the Captain after with such a dangerous bounty on her head, and more importantly, what is she hiding?"

Co-writer Marjorie Liu opened up about working on BRSRKR: The Bleeding Tide, noting that "The BRZRKR universe has always felt boundless to me, a place where stark realism and the supernatural can converge in unforgettable ways. Writing a tale where the curse of vampirism collides with B’s own immortality has been such a thrill and honor, and seeing the characters come to life through Garry Brown’s phenomenal art makes it all the more exciting."

Artist Garry Brown sang high praises for Liu's work while discussing the title, saying, "It’s a crazy ride working on the book with Marjorie. I get to draw a lot of the things that I love to draw: gore, monsters, gore, pirates, and gore."

Created by Reeves and Matt Kindt, BRZRKR premiered back in 2021 to rave reviews from critics and readers alike. The main series ran for twelve issues, and followed the half-god immortal warrior known as B in the modern day as he carries out various black-ops missions on behalf of a conniving government, all while attempting to uncover the truth behind his origin and a means of ending his suffering. Since its release, BRZRKR has expanded out from a single mainline comic book series to multiple one-shots, several spinoffs, a novel set in an alternate timeline, a planned feature film, and an upcoming Netflix anime series.

BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide #1 goes on sale from BOOM! Studios on November 26.
