Image Comics' Creepshow, based on the Eisner Award-nominated adaptation with inspiration from the Shudder original TV series, is launching its latest volume just in time for those who like to get in the mood for spooky season a bit early.
Creepshow Vol. 4 #1 is set to hit the shelves on September 17, 2025, and delivers two new "tales of suspense and horror" from some of the most talented creators in the comic book business. In 1982, acclaimed horror author Stephen King teamed up with fellow genre legend George A. Romero, writer and director of the groundbreaking chiller Night of the Living Dead, to conjure a film that would pay tribute to the terrifying stories found in comic book series from E.C. Publications, such as Vault of Horror and the original Tales from the Crypt. The result, King's screenwriting debut, was Creepshow -- an epic collection of clever, darkly comedic and star-studded mini-thrillers that would become the quintessential example of classic horror anthology movies, spawned two sequels and a TV series, and would eventually become its own comic book series.
Creepshow Vol. 4 Kicks Off With Two Deliciously Dark Stories

Leading the latest double feature from the Creepshow comic book series is a thrilling collaboration by writer Jeremy Adams, who published Green Lantern: Fracture Spectrum earlier this year, and Argentine artist Eduardo Risso, who is best known for his work on Brian Azzarello's award-winning DC Vertigo title, 100 Bullets. The acclaimed duo's tale is described as a story of love gone south and boasting prevalent themes of the "eat the rich" and "'til death do us part" variety. If those words are meant to be taken literally, that must mean that readers are in for a romantic sort of treat that is equal parts tasty and tragic.
The second half of Creepshow Vol. 4 #1 is made up of a story that appropriately sounds exactly like something straight out of a great Stephen King book or novella. It involves a man who, when putting himself on sabbatical to pursue his dreams of a career as a writer, rents a secluded house that comes with only one rule (the ignorance of which is inevitable): never enter the smaller house on the outskirts of the property. The ominous cautionary tale is the brainchild of writer and artist duo Rosie Knight and Oliver Ono, best known for working together on IDW's acclaimed graphic novel from 2024, Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp. Considering their previous experience in crafting stories about kaiju, this could mean their tale proves that big things come in small packages.
Previous volumes of Image Comics' Creepshow series have served up a plethora of scary stories from many of modern comic book history's most legendary creators. For instance, Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Paul Dini teams up with Steve Langford and John McCrea for a tale of a clown (not The Joker) with a peculiar appetite, and The Boys scribe Garth Ennis and Wonder Woman writer Becky Cloonan collaborate on a shocking story about the unborn.
Joe Hill -- not only the mastermind behind Locke & Key, but a veteran of the Creepshow franchise since the son of Stephen King made his acting debut at 9 years old in the original film -- has also published a story in the comic, alongside Jason Ciaramella and Michael Walsh, about a horrifying night on a commuter train where things get hairy. With the talent already announced to be involved for the newest issue, horror fans and comic book lovers can likely be assured that they are bound to be supremely creeped out by Vol. 4.
