Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.
How does a leading comic book publisher make one of its most anticipated titles even more exciting? Bring in some of the best creators in the business to contribute, which is just what Image Comics and Skybound are doing for the upcoming launch of Terminal.
Some of the most iconic artists in comic book history have been enlisted to design variant covers for the summer 2026 release of Terminal #1.
The lineup of special variant covers for this upcoming superhero series includes two that are open to order by Andy Kubert, whose experience drawing for X-Men makes him a perfect candidate to draw for Terminal, given the new story's comparisons to the classic Marvel title. The artist is also known for creating the latest Robin and Bruce Wayne's son, Damian Wayne, with Grant Morrison for his acclaimed Batman run.
Image via Image Comics/SkyboundSpeaking of Batman, one of the most prolific names involved with Gotham City lore is Frank Miller, whose seminal graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns turns 40 this year. The writer and artist collaborate with another creator tied to the Caped Crusader, colorist Alex Sinclair of Batman: Hush fame, for a creepy 1:100 foil incentive variant for Terminal #1 that is unmistakably Miller.

The other is also colored by McCaig, but is illustrated by Arthur Adams, another artist well known for his association with the X-Men franchise, having broken out in the mid-1980s as the co-creator of the character Longshot.

Kubert also illustrates an additional 1:2500 original sketch incentive variant, and true Chromium variants of his and McCaig's open-to-order covers are also available.
Image via Image Comics/SkyboundSkybound is also introducing a special blind bag program allowing fans the chance to obtain nearly all the available Terminal #1 variant covers, as well as exclusive surprise items. Editorial Director Alex Antone says, "It doesn’t matter which cover you choose, they’re all drawn by legends! Are you an Adams? Are you a Finch? Are you a flippin’ Frank Miller? There’s something for everyone – might as well grab ‘em all!"
Terminal Is Skybound's Explosive Answer To X-Men
Image via Image Comics/SkyboundSkybound promises that Terminal is a comic that fans of its own smash hit Invincible and the early days of Marvel's X-Men will surely enjoy. However, they also assure that even those who are well experienced with those titles cannot prepare themselves for what to expect in this series.
The story follows a woman named Marilyn Howe and the search for her missing sister, Alessandra. The investigation will unwittingly lead her to fall into the crosshairs of a hidden, brutal conflict between two opposing groups whose supernatural gifts are undeniable, but whose moral stances are questionable. Also being put into question is the extent of Marilyn's own abilities as she learns more about this war and continues to endure the surreal, life-changing experience.
Skybound Entertainment co-founder and current Image Comics Chief Operating Officer Robert Kirkman teams with Uncanny X-Men veteran Joe Casey (also the writer of Dynamite's popular comic book reboot of Ben 10, which he also created) to pen Terminal. The aforementioned Andy Kubert and Dave McCaig are also involved as the illustrator and colorist for the series, and Rus Wooton of Transformers fame provides the lettering.
Terminal #1 hits the shelves on July 22.
