“The Bear God Walks!”
Somewhere in the woods near a Zingarian Hamlet, death stalks the local residents. Every hunter that has ventured into the deep pines has never returned alive. Now a mere child has been ravaged by what the mayor calls the Bear-God. Who will stand and defend the farmers for 1,000 gold coins?
From the gathered mass of concerned villagers steps a red-headed stranger. The continuous rain has waterlogged the woman’s beauty, but even so, Red Sonja’s appearance is inspiring compared to the drunks and schemers who mentally debate their role in a new hunt. Not Red Sonja. She needs the money. Food is the next priority.
Will Sonja travel into the dark woods alone? Are there no real men in this backwoods Hamlet? Did Tusan remember to pack one or two tents? Collect the series to find!
Review
What a fun distraction this story was. Marvel Feature issue five is no epic or story filled with life lessons. This is pure action-comedy at its best. Writer Bruce Jones had my full attention through the entire comic book. Artist Frank Thorne is awesome as usual, adding another feather to his Marvel Comics legacy. I give this issue three Bear-Gods out of five.
