The following contains major spoilers for Longshots #1, on sale October 8 from Marvel Comics.

One of Marvel's most underrated heroes is finally getting the opportunity to prove just how deadly she has always been.

In a preview of Longshots #1 (by Gerry Duggan, Jonathan Hickman, Alan Robinson, Yen Nitro, and VC's Ariana Maher) from Marvel Comics, readers are dropped ten years into the future of the Marvel Universe, right into the middle of the Age of Revelation. As mutantkind finds itself divided between Revelation's followers and those who would stand against him, the likes of Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat, are simply doing what they can to survive. Of course, eking out a life as a bounty hunter in any version of the Marvel Universe is inevitably going to lead to a classic comic book team-up, and Hellcat gets just that once she reaches out to Bishop for help with her next mission.

Patricia "Patsy" Walker is one of the oldest comic book superheroes in the history of Marvel Comics, even if that wasn't the role she was thrust into when she first appeared in Stuart Little and Ruth Atkinson's "Introducing Patsy Walker" all the way back in 1944. Predating the likes of the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, Patsy Walker's comic book debut was all part of an attempt to recapture the golden era of romance comics. While that didn't exactly pan out as intended, it didn't stop Patsy from eventually finding a place of her own alongside the rest of the heroes of the Marvel Universe as Hellcat.

While Patsy's original Cat costume was designed to imbue her with certain superhuman abilities and attributes, the latent psychic powers attributed to it would soon become an innate part of Patsy herself. These powers were enhanced thanks to training alongside Moondragon, yet even those are only the beginning of what Hellcat can do. During Patsy's time with the Defenders, she became romantically entangled with Daimon Hellstrom and drawn into an infernal plot that forever altered the course of her life. Now, Patsy can tap into all kinds of minor mystical abilities, such as seeing through various illusions and tearing free of mystic and demonic bonds alike.

Marvel Comics' Age of Revelation event finds the world irrevocably altered by Doug Ramsey's crusade of terror. Following his transformation into the heir of Apocalypse, the former New Mutant quickly settled into his new role as the supposed savior of mutantkind. Back in July, writer Jed MacKay, who serves as the architect of The Age of Revelation event, opened up about what fans can expect from it, stating, "I'm extremely excited to be at the center of this event. We're traveling to the alien future of the Age of Revelation, where the stories unfolding in the Revelation Territories and beyond will decide whether this is the dawn of a new world, or the end of one. We've been exploring a whole world, and it's been really exciting to see other creators make corners of it their own!"
