Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Reboot Dead: Jordan Peele to Direct ‘Midnight Sons’?

13 hours ago 9

Jordan Peele may be returning to Marvel, but not as a director on a confirmed project yet. He previously passed on directing Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated X-Men film, which is planned for 2028. Now, industry chatter says Marvel is eyeing Peele again for a Phase 7 project, though no official announcement has been made.

Daniel Richtman, an industry insider, reported that Marvel has circled back to the Academy Award winner to helm an unnamed Phase 7 entry. Sources say the move would align Peele with a new MCU project, but details remain undisclosed. Blade is the title most often linked to Peele, though that project has faced long delays and no final director has been confirmed. Now new rumors suggest the project is actually Midnight Sons.

Monkeypaw Productions, Peele’s company, weighed in on social media.

The post followed speculation after a prior report about Marvel seeking Peele for a Blade project. Blade was in development for years and still has not been scheduled for release. The project endured multiple delays since its original 2023 window, and the introduction of Blade in the MCU had included actor Mahershala Ali as Blade and Mia Goth as Lilith. Now it’s rumored to be dead and according to Jeff Sneider, as he told John Rocha that the character will be introduced in the Midnight Sons film.

Meanwhile, Peele’s future project status is unclear. His film slate saw changes when a planned 2024 release was removed from Universal Pictures’ 2026 lineup. Analysts say the trend around Peele’s involvement with big franchises could signal tighter timelines for announcements and more strategic release planning. Analysts say the trend is far from over. Industry observers note that Peele’s connection to Blade would be a major move for Marvel as the character re-enters the MCU.

Bottom line: no official confirmation exists about Peele directing any Marvel film. The public will have to wait for a formal update from Marvel Studios or Peele’s team to know if Blade or any other project will move forward under his direction.
