Marvel Zombies executive producer Brad Winderbaum confirms that there is plenty more material to pull from, assuming the hit limited series gets another season.
Speaking to CBR, Winderbaum discussed where Marvel Zombies might be headed next should it be greenlit for Season 2 at Disney+, explaining that "[Co-creator and director] Bryan [Andrews] Bryan and I geek out all of the time on the Marvel universe. There's so much lore baked into this thing, and so many stories to tell." Winderbaum added, "And if people subscribe to Disney Plus and watch this show, we may have an opportunity to tell those stories."
Based on the events of the What If...? Season 1 episode "What If...Zombies?!", which was itself inspired by the fan-favorite Marvel Zombies line of comics, the hit animated series of the same name, premiered on Disney+ on Sept. 24 and quickly found a footing with fans. Marvel Zombies follows a cast of iconic MCU characters including Kamala Khan, Riri Williams, Kate Bishop, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Shang-Chi, Jimmy Woo, John Walker, Scott Lang, and Valkyrie, each of whom is voiced by their respective original actor. The series also features MCU newcomer Todd Williams as the voice of Blade, specifically a version of the Daywalker who found a second calling as the Moon Knight of his world.
Alongside the rest of Marvel Zombies' voice cast is Hudson Thames in the role of Peter Parker, albeit a decidedly more experienced version of the character than the one he voices in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. WInderbaum previously discussed how Spider-Man's inclusion in Marvel Zombies didn't just add a new layer to its story, but forced the entire production to take a completely different form than what was initially intended for it. "For Spider-Man... You know, we have certain rights to the character and Sony has other rights to the character," Winderbaum explained. "We can use Spider-Man in a half-hour animation, which is why we're able to make Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, as well. But that meant that we had to take our big epic story, and break it into four chapters, which I actually think helped the storytelling."
Will There Be Marvel Zombies Season 2?

While Marvel Zombies was indeed every bit the TV-MA rated experience fans had been clamoring for, that doesn't mean it was the resounding success its producers were hoping it would be. In fact, Marvel Zombies has been met with largely middling reviews on the part of critics, earning the film what is now a 67% "Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across 27 verified critical reviews of the series. Fortunately, audiences have been far more kind to the series, with Marvel Zombies boasting a much more positive 79% approval rating via Rotten Tomatoes' user-generated "Popcornmeter." That being said, there is still no word on whether Marvel Zombies might be receiving a follow-up, and with so many previous MCU shows being cut short after receiving similar reviews, fans aren't necessarily holding their breath waiting for another season of the superpowered horror series.
