Marvel Comics has just given readers a glimpse at Mary Jane Watson's next All-New look, and she's not the only one getting a makeover.
Marvel Comics recently unveiled the new costume designs for both Mary Jane Watson's Venom and the original King in Black himself, Knull, designed by all-star artists R.B. Silva and Ryan Stegman, respectively. Marvel also revealed Carlos Gómez' main cover art for Venom #259, which will mark the debut of Mary Jane's new look, as well as Ryan Stegman's main cover art for Knull #5.
Knull #5 (by Al Ewing and Tom Waltz) is currently slated to go on sale May 13, standing as the final chapter in the titular villain's latest assault on the Marvel Universe. The official solicit synopsis for Knull #5 from Marvel Comics reads, "LET THERE BE LIGHT! Knull has conquered the Lightforce Dimension and left his dastardly eternal mark in SUPERNOVA fashion!"
The solicit continues, "But wait! An enemy he thought he’d eliminated with extreme prejudice is back for more...and he comes upgraded for battle this time! Meanwhile, the newly crowned Queen in Black, Hela of Asgard, is beginning to question her strategy against Knull – is it time to activate Plan B? This is it! The bombastic grand finale! Who will fall? Who will rise? Who will CLAIM THE LIGHT?!"
Venom #259 (by Al Ewing and Carlos Gómez) will arrive in stores on June 17, and will pick up shortly after a devastating confrontation between Mary Jane, Peter Parker, and the Venom symbiote. Spinning out of the events of Marvel's Death Spiral, Peter and Mary Jane will finally get the chance to speak openly with one another about what has happened over the past few years, all while Venom finally gets around to picking up where the iconic symbiote and Spider-Man last left off.
What's Next For Mary Jane Watson In Marvel Comics?
Image via Marvel ComicsCritically acclaimed writer Al Ewing gave fans an idea of what they can expect from Mary Jane's next chapter, explaining, "MJ's new look is a 'leveling up' of sorts. After her most serious challenge as Venom so far, it represents a reassessment of her relationship with the symbiote—just in time for an even bigger threat looming on the horizon."
Both Death Spiral and Queen in Black were initially revealed back in October during New York Comic Con, with each promising to introduce a whole host of new horrors to the Marvel Universe. While Death Spiral marked the debut of the Marvel Universe's newest superpowered serial killer in the form of Torment, Queen in Black gives none other than Hela herself the opportunity to try and wield all the ancient power that Knull commanded as the King in Black.
Knull #5 from Marvel Comics goes on sale starting on May 13. Venom #259 goes on sale on June 17.
