Mrs. Christie at the Mystery Guild Library

Mrs. Christie at the Mystery Guild Library is an adorable modern cozy with a strong sense of history.

Tory Van Dyne is part of a rich New York family. Due to past trauma, her life has become small — she lives in a family home in Manhattan and restores old books. Don’t feel too sorry for her, though, because that building, thanks to her eccentric grandmother, also includes a perfect recreation of Agatha Christie’s home library, including the books she used for research. It’s so perfect that the ghost of Mrs. Christie appears. Or someone who’s doing a really good cosplay.

Other characters include Tory’s actress cousin Nicole, a dishy police detective, and a new neighbor who’s a precocious 11-year-old Irish girl. Then there’s a murder — after a dog-sitting crisis — and poison and a double-dealing agent.

This book had so many things I loved: mystery, romance, fashion, cocktails, a team of oddballs finding friends, and lots of quotes from various Christie novels. But you likely know if you want to read it once you heard “Agatha Christie’s ghost”. It’s well worth your time.
