Critical Role fans were rewarded with the long-awaited The Mighty Nein animated series trailer on Friday at New York Comic Con.
Set 20 years after the previous animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina, and adapted from Critical Role‘s second actual-play campaign (2018-2021), The Mighty Nein “follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful arcane relic known as ‘The Beacon’ falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm and stop reality itself from unraveling.”
The Mighty Nein trailer debuted at the “Critical Role & Prime Video: A Decade of Adventure and the Animated World of Exandria” panel at NYCC ’25, which featured cast and executive producers Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Marisha Ray, Liam O’Brien, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham.
Prime Video also revealed additional cast for the series, including Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston, Lucy Liu, Nathan Fillion, T’Nia Miller, Felicia Day, Graham McTavish, and Ivanna Sankho.
In addition to news about the next animated adventure, the panel teased Critical Role campaign four, and aired clips from the upcoming The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4. Toward the end of the panel, new Vox Machina cast member Wayne Brady (who joins the series as Taryon Darrington) made a surprise appearance. Additional guest stars include Kevin Richardson, Debra Wilson, and Tom Cardy.
The Mighty Nein will debut on Prime Video on November 19. The Legend of Vox Machina Seasons 1-3 are available now. Both series are are produced by Metapigeon, Titmouse, and Amazon MGM Studios.
