Marvel Comics kicked off its consumer-facing New York Comic Con 2025 programming with its “Spider-Man and His Venomous Friends” panel on Thursday, where editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, VP and executive editor Nick Lowe, senior editor Jordan D. White, and writers Al Ewing and Joe Kelly, among others, teased a summer 2026 event and revealed some of the creative team working on Amazing Spider-Man Annual (2026) #1.
Launching next summer, the Queen in Black event will apparently drag at least a portion of the Marvel Universe into Hel, the final resting place for the dead of the Ten Realms ruled by none other than Hela. Or perhaps, given the teaser image that declares, “Hel will reign,” it would be more appropriate to say that Hel takes over the Marvel Universe. Color us intrigued.
But before that happens, Marvel will publish Amazing Spider-Man Annual (2026) #1 in January, featuring an all-star creative team. The one-shot will be written by Saladin Ahmed, Joe Kelly, and more, with art by Federico Vicentini.
Per the solicit, the issue will deal with “RAPID RESPONDERS! SPIDER-MAN shows new speedster RAPID around the friendly neighborhood! Rapid has A LOT to learn about the super-hero game! But the training wheels come off when SCREWBALL live streams death and destruction across NYC!”
See Vicentini’s cover art below.
In February 2026, Marvel will release an “alpha one-shot” to kick off the new Spider-Man/Venom crossover, Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral. Written by Joe Kelly, Al Ewing, and Charles Soule, with art by Jesús Saíz, Death Spiral spins out of events in Amazing Spider-Man, Venom, and Eddie Brock: Carnage from February to April 2026.
Per the solicit, “A new super powered serial killer is on the loose and they’re coming for Spidey, Venom and everyone in between. But what terrible secret has CARNAGE learned and what does it have to do with Spider-Man?! Don’t miss the next chapters of this spiders and symbiotes saga in the pages of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and VENOM!”
