The following contains major spoilers for Storm #2, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Storm's final day has revealed the hidden failure of Krakoa, and it is heartbreaking.
Storm #2 finds the titular mutant hero spending what she knows will be some of her last hours on Earth trying to save as many lives as she can, including her own. Upon visiting what could be her best hope of finding appropriate medical care, however, Storm is immediately rebuffed by the man, or rather mutant, in charge of the operation. As it turns out, Krakoa never stepped up to offer the world's greatest team of medical practitioners any semblance of help, and all because their Resurrection Protocols meant they though they would never need any of the same in kind.

The Resurrection Protocols were one of the building blocks of Krakoan culture and life for mutants during the Krakoan Era. Thanks to the combined powers of The Five, a group of powerful mutants consisting of Egg, Elixir, Tempus, Proteus, and Hope Summers were able to use brain scans provided by Cerebro to quite literally resurrect fallen mutants in brand new bodies. This not only ended the threat of death for mutantkind as a whole, it gave Krakoa as a nation a means of sustaining its population against any and all threats.
The Resurrection Protocols were hardly the only major medical breakthrough made by the mutants of Krakoa. In months after Krakoa was founded as an independent nation, its greatest minds developed a series of Krakoan medicines that were capable of staving off all manner of diseases and infections. These Krakoan medicines were distributed worldwide, and made a genuinely profound impact upon humanity as a whole, yet they were ultimately weaponized against those using them and the mutants who produced them by the anti-mutant organization known as Orchis.

The Scarlet Witch’s New Apprentice Might Be Even More Powerful Than Her Mentor
Agatha Harkness has just introduced the Scarlet Witch to her next mentor, and they might be stronger than either of their predecessors.
Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm, has taken the end of the Krakoan Era as an opportunity to continue bridging the gap between mutantkind and humanity. Not only has she created her own floating fortress through which she can address various crises across the globe, Storm has been open and honest about the reasons behind and results of her missions since. This hasn't necessarily endeared her nor her fellow mutants to humankind any further, yet it stands as a testament to her willingness to provide as much transparencey as possible. Unfortunately, one of Storm's latest missions left her infected with what will ultimately be a lethal dose of radiation that not even her astonishing powers can overcome.

X-Men
Since their debut in 1963, Marvel's X-Men have been more than just another superhero team. While the team really hit its stride as the All New, All Different X-Men in 1975, Marvel's heroic mutants have always operated as super-outcasts, protecting a world that hates and fears them for their powers.
Key members of the X-Men include Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. Often framed as the world's second strongest superheroes, after the Avengers, they are nonetheless one of Marvel's most popular and important franchises.
